The Next Generation of a 45-Year Legacy

The next cohort of STEAM enthusiasts and entrepreneurs are gearing up for their Shad summer and a taste of post-secondary. Many of our alumni go on to become campus team members, like Ariane Volpé who is headed to medical school and shares her experience as a Shad participant and team member. For 45 years, Shad has provided youth with experiential learning that builds confidence, forms meaningful connections, and opens doors to the future.

Shad's Presence at Regional Science Fairs

It’s science fair season across Canada and Shad is supporting over 50 regional fairs this spring. As judges, we connect with students and families, highlighting Shad as a key step in their post-secondary science journey. We provide Community Changemaker Awards that recognize students who show curiosity, initiative, and creative thinking and invite them to consider a Shad experience where they can continue to build confidence, deepen their learning, and join a national community of impact-driven peers.

Futures Day Edmonton

Nearly 300 high school students from across Alberta came together to experience Shad Canada + U School’s Future’s Day Edmonton at the University of Alberta. This one day event supports students as they discover new pathways to post-secondary and STEAM careers.

Coming soon: Shad will host two additional Futures Day events this upcoming fall: Futures Day Red Deer in partnership with Red Deer Polytechnic and Futures Day PEI in partnership with UPEI.

Shad Partner Spotlight

Shad is proud to welcome STEAM PEI as a new Community Partner. STEAM PEI was founded on a simple yet powerful belief — that every Island child deserves the chance to explore, create, and discover their potential in STEAM. Today, they’re doing exactly that, empowering Island youth across PEI to see themselves as future scientists, engineers, artists, and problem-solvers.

Partners help us deliver programming with local content and connect us with youth across the country. Know an organization that we should partner with? Contact Michelle@shad.ca.
