Shad2026 Entrance Scholarship for Indigenous Students

Congratulations to the recipients of the Shad2026 Entrance Scholarship for Indigenous Students!

These scholarships are one step towards removing barriers that have historically limited Indigenous representation in STEAM pathways and careers. They celebrate the power of community and Indigenous excellence, highlighting students with a vision and commitment for future community impact, honoring their responsibilities to their community, and overall excellence.

We had a chance to catch up with these future community builders to hear what they are looking forward to at Shad and into the future. Molly is most looking forward to making new connections and experiencing a new place, and sees a future in law or medicine. Elizabeth is excited to travel and meet like-minded peers, and dreams of becoming an aerospace engineer. Adonia is most excited for ShadSpeaks events and guest speakers, and is working toward a career as a forensic pathologist or Crown attorney. Kyle is excited to explore different STEAM career paths that will let him support Indigenous communities. Audrey is excited to collaborate with peers from across the country and work hands-on with others, with an eye on making a lasting impact on her community. Kealan is looking forward to experiencing university campus life and independence, and envisions himself teaching a STEAM class of his own one day. Simon is excited for the Design and Entrepreneurship Challenge, with his sights set on a future in environmental science or another STEAM field. Adam is excited to meet students from across the country and plans to pursue electrical engineering to give back to his community. Annika is drawn to environmental science, building a career that protects ecosystems while staying connected to her community and culture. Sylvia is excited to be around others with a shared passion for learning, and hopes Shad will help her discover which STEAM field speaks to her.
