Tell us a little about yourself.
Hello! My name is Molly Buffett, and I am from Meadows, Newfoundland and Labrador. I am currently a Grade 10 student at Templeton Academy. One of my biggest passions is dance – I take part in many different dance classes at the Corner Brook Dance Hub, with ballet being my favorite! I am also involved in the Dance Leaders program, where I volunteer my time helping to teach younger dancers. I am also a proud member of 4-H in my club, the Summerside Rockets. In addition to these activities, I enjoy playing guitar, listening to music, spending time with my friends, and traveling whenever I can!
Why are you excited to participate in Shad? What are you most looking forward to?
I wanted to participate in the Shad program this summer so I could meet like-minded youth, learn new skills, and create lifelong lasting memories. By attending Shad, I hope to learn more about myself while also gaining valuable experiences that will help prepare me for my future. I am especially looking forward to making new connections and friendships, as well as having the opportunity to visit and experience a new place!
What sparks your curiosity or interest in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?
I am interested in STEAM because it focuses on solving real-world problems, which makes it both meaningful and exciting to learn about. When I’m learning something related to STEAM, I feel engaged and eager to understand the key ideas being taught. I am also interested in entrepreneurship because it helps develop important skills like leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are valuable in many areas of life.
How do you envision your future?
In the future, I hope to attend a university where I can meet new people and gain new experiences. At the moment, I’m not exactly sure which career I want to pursue, but I see myself going into either law or medicine. I hope to build a comfortable life and have the opportunity to travel often with my family. I also want to continue growing the passions I have now and carry the lessons and experiences I gain from Shad into my everyday life!
