Q : Qu'est-ce que cela fait d'être nommé "Schulich Leader" ?  

Being named a Schulich Leader feels both surreal and incredibly humbling at the same time. I never thought I could be picked from the thousands of impressive candidates all across Canada. I’m beyond honoured to be recognized alongside so many inspiring innovators and young leaders. This scholarship has given me the confidence to pursue my goals fearlessly and a strong sense of responsibility to give back to my community and country.  

Q: What motivates your passion for STEAM/Entrepreneurship?  

I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of creativity and analytical problem-solving. Whether it’s building technology or designing products, STEAM gives me the tools to turn all my ideas, even the unconventional ones, into real-world solutions that can be implemented. Finally, entrepreneurship, to me, is about challenging what’s possible in the moment and creating impact beyond yourself.   

Q: At Shad we are leaders in social innovation, how do you plan to use #STEAM4Good? 

I hope to use #STEAM4Good by contributing to science in a way that is human-centered. I want my development to benefit as many people as possible. My Shad project — an affordable, eco-friendly, modular wind turbine for remote regions — was what sparked a deeper interest in combining innovation with equity, and I want to keep building solutions that are both scientific and socially conscious.   

Q: What lessons would you share with incoming Shads? 

Be open to everything: new ideas, new challenges, and especially new people! Shad is full of inspiring individuals, and the more you engage, the more you’ll grow. It’s also a place where stepping out of your comfort zone leads to the most growth and learning. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, take risks, and support others along the way. The connections and confidence you build at Shad will stay with you long after the program ends.
