BCHS Student Accepted into National Shad Program

A student from Barrhead Composite High School (BCHS) is preparing for an exciting summer opportunity after being accepted into Shad, a nationally recognized and highly competitive program for high school students across Canada.

Selected through a rigorous application process, grade 11 student Morgan Keay will spend one month living on a Canadian post-secondary campus while taking part in immersive programming focused on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics), entrepreneurship, leadership, and career exploration.

Each year, thousands of students from across Canada apply to the Shad program, with acceptance considered a significant achievement recognizing academic excellence, leadership, creativity, and community involvement.

During the month-long live-in experience, students connect with peers from across the country while participating in interactive learning opportunities, interdisciplinary design challenges, and hands-on projects aimed at solving real-world problems. The program also features keynote speakers, professors, entrepreneurs, and innovators who help students explore future career pathways and post-secondary opportunities.
