Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Adrien Gignac, and I am currently finishing Grade 10 at Bev Facey Community High in Sherwood Park, Alberta. I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially camping and hiking with my family. I also love travelling and have been fortunate to visit nine different countries, which has helped me learn about different cultures and ways of life. At home, I have a cat named Cowboy who keeps our family entertained. In school, Science is my favourite subject, and I enjoy learning about how the human body works and how scientific discoveries can improve people’s lives.
Why are you excited to participate in Shad? What are you most looking forward to?
I am excited to participate in Shad because it is an opportunity to learn from other motivated students who share similar interests in science, technology, and innovation. I am looking forward to challenging myself academically while also meeting new people from across Canada. Shad offers experiences that go beyond what I can learn in a classroom, and I am especially interested in the hands-on projects and problem-solving activities. I think the program will help me grow both personally and academically while giving me a better understanding of possible future career paths.
What sparks your curiosity or interest in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?
My curiosity in STEAM comes mainly from my love of science. I enjoy learning how things work, asking questions, and finding solutions to problems. Biology and health sciences are especially interesting to me because they connect directly to helping people and improving quality of life. I am fascinated by the medical field and the constant advancements in technology and research that allow doctors to provide better care.
How do you envision your future?
In the future, I hope to pursue a career in medicine. I am particularly interested in anesthesiology because it combines science, critical thinking, and patient care. While I know there is still a lot to learn before making a final decision, I look forward to exploring different areas of healthcare and gaining experiences that will help guide my path. I hope to attend university, continue developing my skills in science, and eventually work in a profession where I can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
