Q: Tell us a bit about yourself

I am a 17-year-old Canadian student passionate about mathematics, music, boxing, chess, and science. In my spare time, I enjoy analyzing chess positions and playing music, primarily Jazz. I play the Trumpet, Saxophone, and piano. I also take a great liking to politics, hoping to make a significant change in my community and, hopefully, all of Canada.

Q: Why do you want to participate in the Shad Program/ What are you most looking forward to?

I previously had no knowledge of the Shad program until it was recommended by my school’s principal. After reading about the program, I wanted to participate because it is a once-in-a-lifetime life-changing experience that opens you up to exclusive opportunities that I wouldn’t get otherwise. I am most looking forward to traveling to my campus because it is an excellent insight into how life at university will be. Additionally, I am looking forward to the excursions portion of the program and generally being enlightened so I can become the best version of myself that I can be.

Q: What motivates sparks your curiosity in STEAM and/ or entrepreneurship?

I am primarily interested in Math, Technology, science, engineering, and entrepreneurship, but not art. All of these things are art in their own ways. For instance, just as math is the art of explanation and science is the art of making things soluble. What motivates my curiosity about STEAM and entrepreneurship is its complexity and my never-ending need to understand it fully.

Q: How do you envision your future?

It is challenging to envision where I will be in the future as I have a lot of options. But with my consistent hard work and determination, I hope to pursue post-secondary education in either mathematics, computer science, or business. Generally, I envision my future as prosperous, bright, and happy.
