Gestionnaire de la réussite des élèves et du rayonnement, Faculté de génie
Katie Skead (elle) est coordonnatrice de la sensibilisation et des communications pour la faculté de génie de l'UNB. Après avoir obtenu son baccalauréat et sa maîtrise en génie civil à l'UNB, Katie est allée acquérir de l'expérience à l'international en travaillant pour une entreprise de conseil en ingénierie en Nouvelle-Zélande. Son attachement pour l'ambiance communautaire de l'UNB l'a ramenée à l'université. Aujourd'hui, à travers divers programmes offerts sur le campus et à l'extérieur, Katie s'efforce d'offrir des expériences enrichissantes aux futurs ingénieurs et scientifiques de tous âges, tout en mettant en contact les diplômés entre eux, avec l'école et avec nos futurs générations.
Katie est impliquée auprès de Shad depuis 2019 et a hâte de se laisser inspirer par un nouveau groupe d'élèves chaque année. Elle est ravie lorsque les participants de Shad apportent leur enthousiasme et leur passion à chaque volet du programme et tissent des liens au sein de la communauté en si peu de temps.
Katie passe son « temps libre » à courir après ses deux enfants et à présider le comité d'accueil du Harvest Music Festival.
Professional Engineer
Kamryn Smith (she/her) is a proud Shad alum and passionate STEM advocate dedicated to inspiring the next generation of problem-solvers. With a background in civil engineering and biology, she has always been drawn to understanding how the world is built – both structurally and scientifically. As a civil engineer, she once built bridges; now, she bridges ideas, connecting students with new ways of thinking, learning, and creating impact.
Kamryn has been part of the Shad UNB team since 2019, helping to create transformative experiences for students through mentorship, hands-on learning, and leadership development. In addition to her work with Shad, she spent two years as an Engineering Outreach Coordinator at the University of New Brunswick, developing programs that engaged youth in creative problem-solving and real-world applications of STEM. Her work has focused on breaking barriers in STEM education, fostering mentorship opportunities, and designing interactive learning experiences that make science and engineering accessible and exciting.
Now as a full-time traveller and adventurer, Kamryn believes in the power of exploration, whether it’s discovering new places, ideas, or ways of thinking. She is excited to bring this spirit of curiosity and discovery to Shad UNB, helping students embrace challenges, think creatively, and build a future that will outlast them all.
