Q: How does it feel to be named a Schulich Leader?
Winning the Schulich Leader Scholarship means having the freedom to focus on the work that matters to me and the responsibility to continue showing up for the communities I care about. It recognizes not just academic performance, but leadership in STEAM. As someone who is particularly interested in the intersection of biology and computer science, receiving the McGill Schulich Leader Scholarship opens new doors and opportunities ahead. Being part of the Schulich community provides me with the resources and support to shape the next generation of science leaders. I hope to inspire more girls to pursue STEAM and help others find their spark, just as I have.
Q: What motivates your passion for STEAM/Entrepreneurship?
Entrepreneurship and STEAM are my pathway for creating a more diverse and accessible tomorrow. I’ve used entrepreneurship in many aspects of my life. Whether it’s to empower girls to take on leadership roles in science or help individuals facing neurobehavioural disorders, I believe that science is most powerful when used with empathy and purpose.
Q: At Shad we are leaders in social innovation, how do you plan to use #STEAM4Good?
I plan to continue leading and expanding organizations like The Misophonia Wellness Society, a BC-incorporated nonprofit dedicated to building a supportive community for individuals with Misophonia and their families, as well as Rosie’s Network, a high-school club that pushes for inclusivity in STEM. I’m also excited to launch new initiatives during my studies at McGill.
Q: What lessons would you share with incoming Shads?
Incoming Shads; always follow your passions! Don’t be afraid to get your foot in the door and step outside your comfort zone.
