Becoming a Loran Scholar has changed the trajectory of my career, by offering a network of enriching opportunities that enable me to utilize connections and mentorship, while empowering me to focus on creating change through action.

I aim to apply engineering and additive manufacturing to the medical world by creating biocompatible solutions to contribute to the forefront of the sector and advance the field for humanity.

My Shad experience instilled in me the significance of collaboration and resilience in overcoming complex challenges, while fostering a curiosity and openness to diverse perspectives. I used SHAD as a springboard to pursue personal projects and start-ups; experiences invaluable during the Loran selection process, where I articulated my vision, values, and leadership potential.

To all future Shad participants, I offer this advice: embrace every moment of this transformative experience. Be open to new ideas, cultures, and friendships. Put yourself into a growth mindset by taking risks and facing challenges. Above all, cherish the connections you’ll make and the memories you’ll create – they will stay with you long after the program ends.
