Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi there! My name is Jazmin, and I’m currently a grade 11 student attending Glovertown Academy in Newfoundland. I am deeply passionate about music, and it serves as a constant source of inspiration and creativity in my life. Whether I’m immersed in the melodies of various genres or strumming my electric guitar, music transports me to a world where expression knows no bounds. I take great pride in continuously challenging myself to improve my musical skills and explore new horizons within this art form. Alongside my dedication to music, I am also committed to excelling in my academic pursuits. With a strong work ethic and a thirst for knowledge, I approach my studies with diligence and strive for excellence in every endeavor. I believe in the transformative power of education, and I’m eager to continue my academic journey, with a focus on specific sciences courses, such as biology and chemistry, to achieve my overall goal of becoming a professional in the medical field.
Q: Why do you want to participate in the Shad program/ What are you most looking forward to?
As an individual deeply passionate about learning, innovation, and making a positive impact, I am thrilled about the prospect of participating in the Shad program. I see this as a transformative opportunity to immerse myself in new experiences and challenges that will broaden my horizons and shape my future endeavors. Engaging with mentors and peers who share my enthusiasm promises to be an inspiring journey filled with meaningful connections and collaborative learning. I am particularly excited about the hands-on workshops, captivating lectures, and real-world projects that will not only test my critical thinking skills, but also empower me to develop practical solutions to complex issues. Moreover, the chance to explore the campus and experience university life firsthand will offer invaluable insights into potential academic and career pathways, further fueling my curiosity and ambition.
Q: What motivates or sparks your curiosity in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?
I find it fascinating how creativity and technological proficiency can come together to solve problems in the real world and bring about constructive change. The chance to investigate cutting-edge technology, unearth novel scientific findings, and create inventive solutions to challenging issues is of interesting to me and motivates me to seek out new information and experiences.
Q: How do you envision your future?
I see lots of chances in my future to improve people’s health and well-being, as well as the wellbeing of entire communities. Equipped with a robust scientific background and an in-depth comprehension of human health and biology, my goal is to embark on a professional journey that enables me to make a meaningful impact on the progress of medical research and healthcare. Whether I’m working in clinical settings, doing research in lab settings, or supporting public health campaigns, I envision myself contributing to the global effort to address urgent healthcare issues and enhance health outcomes for individuals, specifically working in areas around Canada, outside of Newfoundland.
