Sudbury’s AWYF partners with Shad Canada to expand leadership access for youth across Northern Ontario.

The Afro Women and Youth Foundation (AWYF) of Sudbury has announced that it has officially become a Friend of SHAD Canada partner.

In a release, the AWYF said the development marks “an exciting milestone in the organization’s commitment to developing the next generation of youth leaders and expanding access to leadership opportunities across Northern Ontario.”

The announcement comes as AWYF celebrates the success of two outstanding youth leaders who have earned SHAD scholarships through their leadership, dedication, and commitment to community service.

Eunice Toki has been selected as a 2026 SHAD Scholarship recipient. Since joining AWYF in 2023, she has been an active volunteer, Youth Advisory Committee Member, and emerging youth leader. She is also an active member of the Black Student Association at St. Charles College, one of the Black student leadership initiatives AWYF supports.

“Her selection reflects her commitment to leadership, academic excellence, and making a positive difference in her school and community,” the release said.
