Shravya Verma – Loran Scholar 2025

Q. What does it mean for you to win this scholarship?

It’s an honour to be part of a community that believes in integrity, character, and leadership through action. Winning the Loran means so much to me. It’s a huge encouragement to keep working hard and pushing my boundaries.

Q. How might this scholarship change your undergraduate experience?

Loran will give me the freedom to explore what I’m really passionate about, without stressing too much about money. It also means I’ll be part of a community that pushes me to be better and supports me along the way.

Q. What do you envision yourself doing after you graduate? How do you plan to continue to be of service in your community?

After graduation, I want to use engineering to help solve problems that actually impact people’s lives, whether that’s in sustainability, infrastructure, or tech for good. I’m still figuring out exactly what field or area I want to pursue, so I am excited to figure that out in university.

Q. What lessons did you take away from your Shad experience? Were any of them helpful through the Loran selection process?

At Shad, I learned how to work in a team, how to lead by listening, and how to stay open to new ideas. Those lessons helped me during the Loran selection process, especially staying grounded and being myself, even in stressful situations.

Q. What advice do you have for those about to enter the Shad 2025 program?

Be open to everything! Shad is what you make of it. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, talk to people you wouldn’t usually talk to, and try new things. It goes by fast, so take it all in and enjoy it.
