Q. What does it mean for you to win this scholarship?

For me, winning the Loran is an opportunity to gain all of the knowledge and expertise of previous generations, and eventually, for me to share all I have learned with the next generations of scholars.  

Q. How might this scholarship change your undergraduate experience? 

Far more than just enabling me to graduate debt free, the Loran award will expand my horizons during my undergraduate years and expose me to experiences/perspectives that I could not even imagine.

Q. What do you envision yourself doing after you graduate? How do you plan to continue to be of service in your community? 

I envision pursuing further education after my undergraduate degree, hopefully allowing me to enter the medical field. I intend to give back to my community by volunteering my time and utilizing my expertise. 

Q. What lessons did you take away from your Shad experience? Were any of them helpful through the Loran selection process? 

The Shad experience helped me recognize which parts of myself I valued, and which things I was truly passionate about. Both of these discoveries were undoubtedly beneficial during the Loran selection process and continue to be valuable in my everyday life.

Q. What advice do you have for those about to enter the Shad 2025 program? 

For those who are entering the Shad2025 program, remember to live in the present and embrace every moment as it comes! There is no one correct way to do Shad, and every individual has something different they need to learn. If you keep an open mind and allow yourself to grow, you are doing it right! The memories will last a lifetime.
