Red Deer student accepted into prestigious program

A Grade 10 student from École Secondaire Notre Dame High School has been accepted into one of Canada’s most competitive youth enrichment programs.

Scarlett Reed has been selected to participate in the Shad Canada program, a nationally recognized initiative that provides high-achieving students with immersive learning experiences focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics and entrepreneurship (STEAM).

Networking and learning on campus

Reed will spend a month this summer living on a university campus as part of the program, taking part in hands-on workshops, career exploration activities and networking opportunities with post-secondary faculty members and industry professionals.

“We are incredibly proud to congratulate Scarlett on being selected for the prestigious Shad Canada program,” said Notre Dame principal Teresa Borchers.

“Scarlett’s curiosity, determination, and passion for learning have made her a leader within our school community, and this opportunity is a testament to her hard work and commitment to excellence.”
