Tell us a little about yourself.
Hello. My name is Ranti Oyebode, and I’m a Nigerian Canadian Grade 10 student. I love learning, whether that’s through science, reading, writing, or exploring new ideas. I read almost every genre I can get my hands on and enjoy writing everything from essays and short stories to poetry. Outside of academics, I’m a wrestler, a debater, and a big fan of puzzles and word games like Wordle and Connections. I enjoy challenges that make me think differently and push me to keep growing.
Why are you excited to participate in Shad? What are you most looking forward to?
I’m excited to participate in Shad because it brings together students from across Canada who are curious, ambitious, and eager to learn. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, building connections with fellow participants and alumni, and being part of a community of students with similar mindsets and goals. I’m also excited to step outside my comfort zone, try things I may not have had the opportunity to experience before, and collaborate with people from different backgrounds to tackle real-world challenges.
What sparks your curiosity or interest in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?
Growing up, I’ve always been fascinated by questions that don’t have obvious answers and by the challenge of finding creative ways to solve problems, especially when different ideas and systems come together. One of the things I love most about STEAM is how science, technology, and creativity can work together to create solutions that have a real impact on people’s lives. Entrepreneurship interests me for a similar reason. Creating meaningful change often requires more than a good idea—it takes communication, leadership, collaboration, and the ability to bring people together around a solution.
How do you envision your future?
I hope to pursue a career in medicine and attend medical school in the future. I’m particularly fascinated by the human body because it’s such a complex system, with countless processes working together every second. While becoming a doctor is my primary goal, I’m also excited by opportunities to continue learning throughout my life, whether through research, graduate studies, public policy, law, or any other field that may interest me. Whatever path I take, I want to keep asking questions, solving meaningful problems, and making a positive impact on the people and communities around me.
