Tell us a little about yourself.

Hello! My name is Mya Kirton, and I am 17 years old.  I love soaking up the sun outside and hanging out with friends.  In my free time I like building Lego, making puzzles, and reading.  My parents and I enjoy going on family vacations which has inspired my delight in exploring new environments.

Why are you excited to participate in Shad? What are you most looking forward to?

I am excited to participate in Shad because of my passion for all kinds of sciences.  I am also interested in the university experience it has to offer in order to acquaint myself with what my future is going to be like.  Along with the learning aspect I am mostly looking forward to having an opportunity to develop new and long-lasting relationships with my peers.

What sparks your curiosity or interest in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?

The ability to discover the facts of life and our ability to apply them to our world to make it a better place is what most interests me in STEAM.  My interest is deeply rooted in my education at school and how STEAM classes have brought me curiosity, enjoyment, and fascination.  I am also curious to learn more about entrepreneurship at Shad due to my exposure to business ownership through my mom.

How do you envision your future?

I envision my future self as a hard-working woman who with a career either in the medical field or forensic science.  I hope that in the future I will be happy with my career choices whilst also having time to settle down and have a family.
