Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.

My Name is Maddie, and I just finished the Shad 2024 program. I’ve made many new friends and learned a lot of new things about myself and a lot of different career paths. I’m interested in going into Engineering, or possibly Architecture. Currently, I volunteer at my hospital and used to do gymnastics for around 9 years. I have three brothers, and two dogs. My current interests are music and painting.

Q: What was your biggest takeaway from your Shad experience?

My biggest takeaway from the Shad experience was how many different career paths there are. If you’re into math or engineering there’s so many opportunities, and I think they taught us really well by guiding and helping us to figure out what our potential interests could be.

Q: At Shad we are leaders in social innovation, how do you plan to use #STEAM4Good?

I plan to use STEAM for good by sharing all that we learned at Shad. They helped guide us in our design projects and I plan to use those ideas by integrating them into my life and then sharing them with my community to help everyone live better lives.

Q: What lessons would you share with incoming Shads?

The lessons I would share are that everyone is there for the same reason you are, and there is absolutely no judgement between anyone. All ideas are good ideas, and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.
