Q: How did you feel when you received the news?

A: I could not believe what I was hearing! My whole body was shaking in disbelief. I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity and will certainly take advantage of everything it has to offer.

Q: How significant is it for you personally to become a Loran Scholar?

A: It is such an honour to be able to join some of Canada’s most driven, motivated and community-oriented youths; they inspire me so much and I want to return that same inspiration to others.

Q: What lessons did you take away from your Shad experience? Were any of them helpful through the Loran selection process?

A: Teamwork makes the dream work! I met incredible youths who challenged my ways of thinking and we pushed each other to our full potential. Through Shad I developed my interpersonal skills which helped me to lessen my nerves during interviews and be genuine in my responses.

Q: What are you hoping to do after graduation? Do you have a long-term goal in mind in terms of the change you’d like to make or be part of?

A: I want to further study the field of medical science to eventually join others in exploring various scientific discoveries and more. I want to help in improving the quality of patient care and medical technology.

Q: What advice would you give an incoming Shad2021?

A: Please be thankful for this opportunity, it is a once in a life chance and therefore make the most of it. Reach out, be involved, take leadership and most of all, have fun!
