Q. What does it mean for you to win this scholarship?
Winning the Loran Award is an amazing privilege, and I count myself lucky to be amongst such a talented group of scholars. It also feels like a recognition for all the work I love to do with my community.
Q. How might this scholarship change your undergraduate experience?
The Loran Award has opened doors to universities outside of my province, allowing me to now commit to the University of Toronto for Engineering Science. There, I hope to be a leader on campus. Being a Loran Scholar also provides summer opportunities to work for non-profits, international organizations, and major technology companies.
Q. What do you envision yourself doing after you graduate? How do you plan to continue to be of service in your community?
After I graduate, I want to start a technology company in Canada. I am particularly interested in Quantum Computing and want to do my part to ensure Canada remains at the forefront of innovation. I also plan to continue my other passions, like coaching debate and volunteering with my local Hindu community.
Q. What lessons did you take away from your Shad experience? Were any of them helpful through the Loran selection process?
Shad taught me how to be an effective leader. I applied these skills in my own groups and initiatives, helping me improve them and eventually win the Loran Award in recognition of their success.
Q. What advice do you have for those about to enter the Shad 2025 program?
I’m normally fairly outgoing, but it took a while for me to come out of my shell at Shad. Looking back, this is my main regret. So, don’t be afraid to meet new people and have fun!
