Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi! My name is Carolyn Head, and I’m a proud Métis student and athlete. I recently represented Team Alberta at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC), which was an incredible honour. When I’m not playing hockey, training, or studying, I love spending time outdoors—hunting, fishing, and skiing.
Q: Why do you want to participate in the Shad program/What are you most looking forward to?
I’m excited to join the Shad program to explore more about STEM and discover career paths that align with my interests and strengths. I’m especially looking forward to collaborating with other students, learning through real-world projects, and gaining insight into how I can use my talents to make an impact.
Q: What motivates or sparks your curiosity in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?
I’ve always been drawn to how things work, which is why science, math, and physics are my favourite subjects. I’m curious about how STEM can solve real-world problems, especially in areas like the environment and technology. I’m also inspired by the idea of creating something new—whether it’s an idea, a solution, or a better future.
Q: How do you envision your future?
In the future, I see myself working in a STEM field that allows me to keep learning, solve meaningful challenges, and stay connected to who I am as a Métis person.
