Entrance Scholarship for Indigenous Students – Tucker McAstocker

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m Tucker McAstocker and I love being in the kitchen. My favourite things to cook are artichoke heart and spinach stuffed chicken, homemade pasta, and coffee. My favourite things to bake are chocolate chip cookies and macarons. I have two dogs named Ramone and Mable, as well as a cat named Wybie. I volunteer with one of the local long-term care facilities, and I really enjoy getting to know the residents.

Q: Why do you want to participate in the Shad program/What are you most looking forward to?

What I look forward to most at Shad is learning about science and connecting with my peers while developing leadership skills.

Q: What motivates or sparks your curiosity in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?

My favourite class at school is science. I attended a science program at UBC last year and had a great time, which is what motivated me to apply for Shad.

Q: How do you envision your future?

I would like to pursue a career in medicine to help people, and I think Shad would be a great start for that path.
