Tell us a little about yourself.
Wâciye, Sago, Hello! My name is Elizabeth Davey, and I am a proud 16-year-old Creehawk (Cree and Mohawk). I am a grade 11 student at Western Technical-Commercial School in Toronto, Ontario, where I am a part of the Robotics SHSM and various sports teams. Some of my favourite things to do are competitive dance, archery and playing frisbee in my free time. I love thrifting around the city with my friends and enjoy baking for my family.
Why are you excited to participate in Shad? What are you most looking forward to?
I am most excited to travel and meet like-minded people at Shad. I love travelling when I get the opportunity to, and having the chance to make friends from across Canada sounds super exciting!
What sparks your curiosity or interest in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?
My interest in STEAM comes from my passion for problem-solving. STEAM provides me with creative pathways to problem-solving. I love getting to design solutions using math and science, as those are my favourite classes. But my personal favourite is engineering. Grade 4 was when I was first exposed to engineering through the First Lego League robotics competition. Back then, I got to work in a team to solve the provided problem through all aspects of STEAM. That is where my curiosity for STEAM began, but at Shad is where it will continue to grow.
How do you envision your future?
In the future, I envision myself as a successful aerospace engineer. I love problem-solving, and I have always had a fascination with planes and aircraft. I believe that the field of aerospace is the perfect fit for my creativity and innovation. I also plan on eventually getting my pilot’s licence to fuel my passion for the skies.
