47 Surrey Schools students selected for summer university STEAM programs with Shad Canada

Forty-seven students from 10 Surrey and White Rock secondary schools will be spending a month at various universities across Canada this summer after being selected for programs with Shad Canada.

Hosted in partnership with 20 Canadian universities, Shad Canada is a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) and entrepreneurship program for students in Grades 10 and 11 that offers an opportunity for students to live on campus, attend seminars, labs and workshops, and interact with faculty and experts.

The 47 students – from École Earl Marriott, Elgin Park, Fleetwood Park, Fraser Heights, Grandview Heights, Johnston Heights, École Kwantlen Park, Queen Elizabeth, Semiahmoo and Sullivan Heights secondary schools – are among students from across the country to earn a spot with Shad. Applicants are selected based on their well-roundedness, academics, creativity, innovation and extra-curricular involvement.
