Q: What does it mean for you to win this scholarship?
It means getting the opportunity to be a part of a community that will continuously strive to see me become a better version of myself and have a welcoming space to grow as an individual and a student.
Q: How might this scholarship change your undergraduate experience?
Gaining this award will change my undergraduate experience in ways beyond my wildest dreams. It will give me the opportunity explore opportunities that I never knew existed, and give me a space to leave my comfort zone and experience a world beyond the one I’ve always known
Q: What do you envision yourself doing after you graduate? How do you plan to continue to be of service in your community?
I see myself becoming a psychologist in the near future and I want to use my profession to help my community by giving proper mental care to underrepresented communities who don’t have the opportunity to gain access to proper mental health care. I want to use my opportunities to give a community to those struggling.
Q: What lessons did you take away from your Shad experience? Were any of them helpful through the Loran selection process?
Shad gave me the opportunity to know my weaknesses and grow from them, and I believe this knowledge of me myself has given me the opportunity to truly be authentic throughout the loran selection process.
Q: What advice do you have for those about to enter the Shad 2025 program?
My biggest advice for incoming Shads is to enjoy it as much as possible, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and although you gain a lot of academic experience, the people and connections you make along the way truly make up your Shad experience.
