Eniola Atoyebi, 2026 Wolf Scholar

Tell us a little about yourself:

My name is Eniola Atoyebi, I’m from Manitoba, and I’m fortunate enough to be a member of the Inaugural Wolf Scholars Cohort. My interests lie in programming, creative writing, and social impact. I’ll be majoring in computer science and economics at the University of Toronto, my dream school since I was nine.

What does this scholarship mean to you?

I can tell that the Wolf Scholars program will make huge waves in how we see education. The program’s focus on interdisciplinary learning has intrigued me from the start, especially as somebody who likes to explore new fields and opportunities. Being a recipient of this scholarship is, therefore, not only an acknowledgement of my academic achievements but also of my love for learning, putting myself out of my comfort zone, and giving back to my community.

What do you hope to do after you graduate, and how do you see yourself contributing to your community?

I’ve always wanted to become a programmer, but after I graduate, and while I’m still in school, I see myself making an impact in other ways as well. I want to solve real-world problems that affect people every day, working especially hard to break barriers and erase issues that impede young people’s paths to success.

What did you take away from your Shad experience, and did any of those lessons come up during the Wolf Scholar selection process?

The most important skills I learned at Shad were the social and personal skills I use when navigating new environments. During the Wolf Scholars finals weekend, those skills helped me navigate the unfamiliar experience confidently.

What would you want to say to someone just starting the Shad2026 program?

To anyone attending Shad in 2026, I encourage you to put yourself out there and get to know as many people as you can. Back in 2024, I attended Shad at Ontario Tech University, where we had the largest cohort at the time, 120 Shads. I would say that my largest regret from that summer was that I’d only gotten to know a small fraction of the amazing people there. So to all incoming Shads, put yourselves out there, make new friends, and remember that everyone is just as new to the experience as you are.
