Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Mackenzie Seth, and I am a grade 11 Métis Student from North Battleford, Saskatchewan. I was born and raised in North Battleford, where I’m grateful to play at an elite level of hockey for the AAA Battleford Sharks. I have also had the opportunity to represent Team Saskatchewan at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships. I’ve always have been an outdoors kid; I love to go camping and learn about the outdoors and all it has to offer.
Q: Why do you want to participate in the Shad program/What are you most looking forward to?
I’m excited to have the opportunity to share my thoughts on all the subjects we’re going to learn. I am eager to visit the university and be a student for the month, exploring what the university has to offer. I can’t wait to learn and meet new people and make new friends from around the country.
Q: What motivates or sparks your curiosity in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?
I am interested in STEAM, as it will give me more opportunities to learn about each area a bit more in depth. It will help me identify what I like and bring out more interest in things I may have never thought of.
Q: How do you envision your future?
I’m planning on furthering my education in university as well as continuing to play hockey. I’m not quite sure what I want to do. I have two career paths I am considering. One is an Orthopedic technician/ Bachelor of Nursing or possibly a Bachelor of Education. I can go the teaching route where I can help kids learn and grow. I’ve always enjoyed working with young kids and I feel like working with kids from k-6 would be a great spot for me.
