Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hello! My name is Claire, and I am a Grade 11 student from St. John’s, Newfoundland. I am a motivated learner with a love for activities that teach me new skills and perspectives. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and playing the piano.
Q: Why do you want to participate in the Shad program/What are you most looking forward to?
I want to participate in the Shad program because it presents an incredible opportunity for me to dive deeper into the world of STEAM. I am excited to collaborate with others on meaningful, hands-on projects that force me to think critically and creatively. Additionally, I am eager to explore a new city and form friendships with inspiring students from across Canada.
Q: What motivates or sparks your curiosity in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?
What motivates my interest in STEAM is my passion for problem-solving and innovation. STEAM centres around these principles and the number of possibilities in which they can be applied truly excites me. As for entrepreneurship, I’m inspired by the concept of creating something that can make a positive difference in people’s lives.
Q: How do you envision your future?
I envision myself pursuing a career in STEAM, using my knowledge to develop solutions to pressing global issues such as food insecurity, poverty, and climate change. Also, as part of my commitment to social justice, I would like to launch a business that supports disadvantaged communities around the world.
