Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi, my name is Emilia Kubicka and I’m currently a grade 11 student in Ontario, Canada. I’m a second-generation immigrant from Poland and Trinidad and an only child. I love everything and anything music-related and spending time with my family and friends. Science has always been an important part of my life as I love learning where things come from, how things are made, and of course mixing chemicals together to form cool reactions. Im super excited to see what the future has planned for me and how science will impact me later in life.
Q: Why do you want to participate in the Shad program/What are you most looking forward to?
I’m super excited to participate in this program as it is a great opportunity to learn more about STEM, and different kinds of sciences. I’m most looking forward to new hands-on experiences and meeting new people.
Q: What motivates or sparks your curiosity in STEAM and/or entrepreneurship?
My curiosity in STEM and entrepreneurship is in the constant drive to understand how things work and to find innovative solutions to real-world problems. I’m inspired by the creativity and experimentation that comes with the field. The combination of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to learn, create, and make a difference in the world.
Q: How do you envision your future?
In the future I can see myself being accepted and attending university to study biochemistry. Although I’m not entirely certain where this path will lead, I’m excited by the millions of possibilities it holds, whether that means working in research, healthcare, or another area where I hope that I will continue to be surrounded by the people that I love who are always there to support me and help me pursue my goals.
