Shad en Français

Program Information

The signature Shad experience, delivered in French.

Shad en Français

Shad en Français is a Shad experience delivered entirely in French: the same program students have always cherished, now honouring our country’s bilingual culture as the language of the experience itself. The experience is more than just living away from home — it’s about stepping into a dynamic community where curiosity, collaboration, and creativity thrive. For one unforgettable month, at one of our post-secondary campuses, you’ll connect in person with like-minded peers, dive into hands-on learning, and build lifelong friendships. Whether you’re from a big city or small town, Shad gives you the chance to explore a new part of the country and experience campus life up close. At Shad, you’ll be in an environment that helps you thrive, grow, and maybe even nerd out a little over the things you love most, with people who love them too.

A Day at Shad

What to expect

“It’s a very special setting at Shad, where everyone is collaborating and working towards common goals, which was very inspiring to me. It helped me to appreciate what can happen when people come together with a common resolve to create solutions to big issues.”

Shad alum, Québec

A community you don’t leave

Shad brings together over 1,700 high-achieving students from across Canada, and builds a community that lasts long beyond a summer. Some come back years later as Program Managers or Program Assistants, guiding and inspiring the very kind of student they once were.

“Ça a vraiment été un programme transformatif. Ce n’est pas la même chose qu’un programme spécialisé comme d’autres universités peuvent offrir : là, tu peux juste apprendre au sujet de la chimie pendant une semaine. Mais ici, c’est l’idée d’aller à un camp pendant un mois et de pouvoir toucher à différents thèmes et sujets. Ça peut te faire réaliser des intérêts que tu n’avais jamais découverts auparavant.”
