Dr. Anis Haque (he/him) has over 30 years of university teaching and research experience. He received his undergraduate with honours, and first master’s degree in Applied Physics and Electronics and his second master’s degree in Computer Science from Cambridge University, England. Soon he found his new passion and completed Ph.D. in Nanotechnology and did postdoctoral research in Nanoengineering at Osaka University in Japan.

Anis focuses his volunteering hours on underrepresented people in the STEM field. His model of creating passion in science and engineering among pre-university students has drawn international attention too. Anis is a long-time Director on the Board of Minerva Canada, a non-profit organization advancing health and safety education for engineering students across Canadian universities. Anis also volunteered as a member of the Board of Examiners at APEGA, and his community services go beyond his professional domain. STEAM Educator, Calgary Stampede and Telus Spark
Catherine (she/her) began her journey with Shad Calgary in 2025 as a Program Manager and now continues her path as Assistant Program Director.
Catherine holds a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics Engineering from University of Calgary. She started her career in Utilities sector at an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management firm where she contributed across all project stages from proposal writing and engineering pre-planning to transmission line design and construction for nearly four years. She then earned a Project Management in Construction Certificate from Mount Royal University and transitioned into the Oil and Gas sector where she led project engineering and management for an Oil and Gas producer.
Catherine later earned a Master of Business Administration (Dean’s List) from University of Calgary and specialized in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics. She is a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma in recognition of placing in the top 20% of graduate business students worldwide. During her MBA, she collaborated with diverse clients to develop corporate strategies including vertical integration initiatives for a Software-as-a-Service provider. Ultimately, her passion for transforming education culture led her to pursue a career as an educator with a focus on inquiry-based learning.
Deeply committed to community involvement, Catherine actively volunteers to create a positive impact; as a mentor with Operation Minerva and Schulich Industry Mentor Program, she empowers youths particularly individuals from underrepresented groups to pursue STEAM careers and become future leaders. She also served as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee member with the Calgary Zoo to foster a sense of belonging. Currently, her volunteer efforts focus on conservation education through Open Minds’ Zoo School where she educates students about conservation and sustainability.
Outside of work, Catherine is an orchid and craft enthusiast but above all, she loves traveling to new countries and immersing herself in different cultures.
