We are delighted to welcome you to Shad’s campus at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) located in the heart of Beautiful British Columbia.  For over 50 years TRU has offered some of the most comprehensive post-secondary education in Canada, with engaging programs in Arts, Science, Engineering, Industrial Trades, Health Sciences, Business, Education and Law.

Thompson Rivers University is Canada’s most comprehensive university.  We offer student-focused post-secondary education leading to a broad range of undergraduate credentials, as well as graduate degrees in many disciplines, including arts, science, business, and law.  TRU proudly boasts the success of its graduates in academia, medicine, and a range of health professions, as well as careers in the arts and entrepreneurial ventures.  Annually, TRU welcomes over 4,000 international students from over 100 countries who study alongside over 8,000 domestic students making our campus truly cosmopolitan. Thompson Rivers University is excited to offer this year’s participants experiences that will both expose them to the rich natural history of the mountains and grasslands of BC but will also introduce them to the human history of the region that dates back many centuries.  TRU’s Shad program will take advantage of TRU’s Internationally recognized faculty researchers and some of the community’s most respected leaders.

Thompson Rivers University acknowledges the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (Kamloops campus) and the T’exelc (Williams Lake campus) within Secwépemc’ulucw, reside on the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwépemc. TRU also acknowledges the territories of the St’át’imc, Nlaka’pamux, Tŝilhqot’in, Nuxalk, and Dakelh Peoples, on whose traditional territories we are privileged to live, work, and play. Through our work we are committed to incorporate Indigenous epistemologies, pedagogies and ontologies into our actions and understandings, supporting decolonization, reconciliation, and Indigenization.
