LORAN 2019 | SHAD FELLOW

Q: How did you feel when you received the news?
A: When I received the news, I was so excited that I was crying and shaking! It took a few days for it to sink in and left me feeling incredibly honoured and grateful.

Q: How significant is it for you personally to become a Loran Scholar?
A: I am honoured to have been chosen as a Loran Scholar. There are many opportunities available to me now that would not be possible otherwise. I am so excited to be a part of the Loran community!

Q: What are you hoping to do after graduation?  Do you have a long term goal in mind in terms of the kind of change you’d like to make or be part of?
A: After graduation, I want to study business, perhaps with a focus on human resources. I hope to continue helping others and making a positive impact in the lives of people around me. I aspire to establish a social enterprise that will assist youth in poverty.

Q: Do you believe your time at Shad had an impact on your Loran Award?
A: Being a Shad fellow itself is an incredible accomplishment that I am lucky to have! I was able to share the leadership experiences and teamwork lessons I learned from Shad in some of my interviews. My exposure to STEAM and business from Shad will benefit me regardless of what I pursue in the future.

Q: What advice would you give an incoming Shad 2019?
A: Don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and take risks! Get to know everyone and create meaningful connections. My friends from Shad are still some of my closest friends today. It’s a life-changing experience and I encourage you to seize every minute of it!
