I can't believe it's almost been a month since I first walked into the Indigo Office. It's feels like it was just yesterday when my manager and the other SHAD student were getting to know each other.
The other SHAD student, Eniko Zsoldos and I spent our final days continuing to working in the project we were assigned. Working with the Quality Assurance team at Indigo meant that we were assigned the task of testing and analysis systems used by Indigo's warehouse and stores. One major project that was assigned to us was testing the upgraded Workforce Management system. This system managed the employee benefits such as vacations and schedules among all of Indigo's retail stores. We were given access to the interface and were required to test all key components of the website to ensure that it was working. This required analytical skills as we had to recreate as many possibilities as possible to test all case scenarios. If any problems occurred, we were responsible for reporting them to the Indigo Support team.
At Indigo everyone is very welcoming and supportive. Today our manager and team invited us to a Farewell Lunch, where we had the chance to spend the last time as an entire team. In addition, everyone at the office is very social. This surprised me as I expect the office to be very serious and quick but instead many of the employees are always helpful and friendly. The company even planned a Summer Event to gather all of the Indigo workers to an event on Center Island. Unfortunately Eniko and I won't be able to attend because it's scheduled after our internship.
The SHAD internship has provided me with the opportunity to explore new career options and develop my existing skills. Working with Indigo has given me the chance to experience the real-world technology industry and the basic foundation of the warehouse process, something that I would never get to learn. This internship as a high school student will provide me with the extra work experience that will be advantageous in the future.
