For the month of August, I will be going to Teledyne Dalsa in Waterloo as an intern.
So far, the company has pleasantly surprised me in many ways. In just a few days, I was able to get trained in garbing (putting on protective clothing needed to enter manufacturing), ESD (electrostatic discharge) control and IT (information technology).
My team of 3 other SHADs and I have been given tasks to finish over the month. So far, we have started to conduct research on the energy using habits of Teledyne DALSA and we are trying to find ways for the company to cut down their usage even more. As well, we have learned the basis of C#, and we are getting ready to create a program that connects employees who have free time while they are at work to other employees who are swamped with work and would like some help. This program will revoluntionalize the employee to employee communication. Lastly, we were tasked with the challenge to create videos to educate employees on garbing and other tasks related to manufacturing and production.
Also, all of the employees have been incredibly helpful and nice to us. They encourage our questions and they are happy to spend their time teaching us all about Teledyne DALSA. We know that whenever we walk into the company, there are always friendly faces to welcome us.
Even though I have just been working a few days, I am confident that Teledyne DALSA is an amazing company to intern for. I have been impressed with their company and the overall work environment. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my August here!
