I’m sad to say that today is my second last day of interning at PUBLIC, a marketing agency that strongly believes that everyone can profit by “doing good”. The time just flew by! I remember walking in the first day, nervous of the unknown, but excited at the same time and thinking to myself “Wow, this is the trendiest office I’ve ever seen!” I knew from that day on that I was going to have an amazing month. Interning at PUBLIC has exceeded all my expectations. The work environment is very much work hard play hard (bowling pictures below), but working with the people at PUBLIC has been so inspiring. They are all committed to creating social good in our society, which inspires me to look at my own life and see how I can make a bigger impact to help make our world a better place.
I’m happy to say that I come out having gained first-hand experience interacting with clients, working on campaigns and supporting the account team on project deliverables. I also learned the importance of asking people out for coffee. This was an extremely important skill for me because the most rewarding part of my internship was engaging with key Publicans to learn from their career stories. There was something that I learned from everyone, and hearing about their career paths allowed me to explore what I wanted to do with my own life.

This month has been rewarding, insightful, fun, and an amazing learning experience. I came in knowing next to nothing about marketing, advertising, and the amount of work that ACTUALLY goes into developing a campaign. But now, let’s just say that I can’t look at an advertisement in the same way ever again.
