For those who work in the charitable sector, November 15 marks a special day, a day when we pause and reflect on all who help us deliver on our mission. National Philanthropy Day is for every corporation, foundation, government and individual who helps make the world a better place. A donation to any charity is the key to putting a mission into action. At SHAD, each donation is an investment to assist exceptional youth in becoming our future change makers.
Our donors can take pride knowing the impact of their gifts:
“The lifelong friends I’ve made, the limits I have stretched, the challenges I have encountered, the skills I have learned, the inspiration and motivation I received from the experience was all thanks to your donation. Without such help, I would not have been able to take part in such a life-changing program.” Vaithiegaa, SHAD ’14
“Though you may have contributed a finite sum towards the program, the return on investment and the changes you've helped make in program participants' lives is unquantifiable.” Kevin, SHAD ’14
SHAD, a registered charity is fortunate to have people committed to championing our mission. Many are corporations, foundations and government, while others are dedicated individuals with special connections to our organization. For the past couple of years at SHAD, we have featured some of these extraordinary people and organizations. I invite you to view our donor stories from this year and celebrate with us. Here is a small snippet on why SHAD alumnus and our Outreach Coordinator, Kyle Blaney, gives to our organization:
“I give to SHAD because attending the program was a turning point in my life. SHAD created an environment where I could meet, work with, and learn from like-minded people … I give because I want every student that could benefit from SHAD to be able to gain as much from the program as I did.”
As employees of SHAD, we not only dedicate our days and our passions to this organization, but we truly believe in the significance of giving to SHAD. Today, we celebrate 100% staff participation as financial donors.
I feel as though I have one of the best jobs in the world, marshalling resources to help Canada’s exceptional students. I am thankful to all those who give to support their passions and I try to express this on a daily basis. On a day like National Philanthropy Day, it is nice to stop and sincerely thank everyone who looks beyond themselves to help others. Together we make the world a better place.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
