Today was the end of our weekend long camping trip at Niagara. We packed up our sleeping bags and our 8-person tents in preparation for the journey home to Western. The bus ride home was a time for reflection – both of our experience camping and of the end of the first week. On the way back, we stopped for lunch at Mohawk Park near the Mohawk residential school which we had visited on the way to our destination.
We returned to campus where the showers and laundry room were quickly filled to their capacities. After that one hour rush for sanitation, we split into our committees to plan the different events. As part of the Community Committee, our project group talked about planning for the upcoming Movie Night and choices for movies. We also discussed celebrating birthdays of SHADs who had birthdays during camp.
After that was our project time, where we bounced off ideas related to this year’s theme: How might Canadians meaningfully reduce our individual energy footprints?
At 9:00 we met as a group in the main lounge where we received further information on the activities of tomorrow and had our snacks.
