The past week has been a blur of new experiences for me at Toronto and Region Conservation, an organization dedicated to maintaining healthy watersheds and natural habitats to ensure the development of sustainable communities, aka. a blue and green filled office space that I fell in love with on day one.
Initially, I did not really know what kind of work to expect. I had received an email the week before saying that I would be analyzing data, but what exactly did that mean? I was soon met with a pleasant surprise when my supervisor announced that I would be learning R, a programming language for statistical analysis, to create dashboards for various purposes. Not only that, I will also get the chance to talk with people from different departments about the work they do. I have never coded before but have always wanted to try, so this was the perfect opportunity for me to start.
It has been a week and my daily battles with R continue. It can be frustrating sometimes but definitely rewarding as well when that line of code finally generates a beautiful graph. Looking forward to what the next three weeks will bring!
