“What a day!” That was my closing remark for my first day of internship at Naveco Power. Today being my second day at the tech startup in my city Fredericton, New Brunswick, I can say that I was already having so much fun.
Today, I walked into the office and the very first task I was given was to mold 3D printed components of a wind turbine prototype with the engineering team. The team went just outside of the downtown office and began the process. We experimented with many different substances and materials to produce the best type of molding for the prototype.
Shortly after we cleaned up, I headed out on a trip to a manufacturing shop with the company’s engineer and one of the consultants. On our way to the shop, we encountered dramatically bizarre weather situations. Once a very warm, sunny day turned into a rapid downpour. It was so severe that we could barely see past the hood of the car. However, we arrived at our destination safely and I got to go across the longest covered bridge in the world; which we had to go across to get to the shop. In there, we checked the progress on one of the turbine prototype’s component and I got to see all the hand built machineries that the shop owner had made.
At the end of the day, it was absolutely incredible to see the different combinations and results that occurred over the duration of the day.
I am so glad I have a chance to work with such an incredible company and the people. I am looking forward to many more interesting and action-packed days for the next month!
