On a Monday morning earlier this week, I was nervous but also thrilled to be introduced to a company that I’d be spending August with. Although it may be easy for a teenager to feel isolated in a group of professionals in their workplace, at Teradici Inc., the welcoming, supportive team of software engineers relieved that apprehension immediately. For the last three days, I’ve had the fortunate opportunity of experiencing not only coding, but the corporate environment as well.
This week has definitely not been laid-back. However, it was priceless in that every hour was a potential learning opportunity. While working on a small project involving Raspberry Pi, Linux, Python, and Vim, I was also able to attend a company-wide meeting to have a taste of its atmosphere.
Several times throughout the week, I was muddled and lost due to the new concepts and terms I had to comprehend. During those instances, my mentors and engineers were unceasingly patient, and willing to help with the confusions I had. Even though it won’t be a relaxing month, I look forward to each day, thanks to the fascinating project and wonderful team.
