It has been a week since we arrived on the University of Saskatchewan campus and everyone knew that today was going to be another fun-filled day with many planned activities and exciting lectures to listen to from a staff member and a guest lecturer. After breakfast, we went to listen to our daily morning announcements and we started new committees. In these groups of around 10 students each, we were given a task that we will complete by the end of the month. These tasks involved creating items to be used as a keepsake for each SHAD to remember the time they spent at SHADSask.
After the committees, there was a very interesting lecture given to us by one of our staff about Typography and I really enjoyed the lecture as I learned a great deal about the subject and the lecturer seemed really interested in the topic himself. After lunch, we had the opportunity to listen to Dr. Betsy McGregor and her amazing talk on the dynamics of teamwork and ideas of how to make teamwork more efficient as well as fun.
Today was the first day that we got to start working on this year’s project. Everyone I talked to said that they had a very productive start to their projects so I think everything is going well although it is still too early to tell. I am very excited to see what each of the groups will do and how different and innovative every group’s idea will be.
Our day ended with a summary of what will happen tomorrow and I am sure that it, and every day forthcoming, will also be days to look forward to!
