Seven days in! It’s been a busy week at SHAD Queen’s.
Following our initial ventures into the new SHAD Cup project was an exciting camping trip at Wolfe Island. We got to walk through new areas of Kingston, ride a ferry, and take a horse-drawn wagon. Our campsite was located near an elementary school, and we set up our tents in a field not far away. During the afternoon, Walter, our instructor, guided us through several team-building activities. Before bedtime, we roasted marshmallows and made s’mores by a glowing campfire. Our sleep that night was filled with terrifying claps of thunder and flashes of lightning, plus huge downpours of rain. Luckily, the morning after was sunny and allowed us to enjoy more group activities. Despite the weather, our camp at Wolfe Island was SHADtastic (!) and brought everybody closer together.
We were all eager to wash our clothes and jump into the showers when we got back. Never had my dorm room felt so much like home. In the evening, we explored our SHAD Cup projects further at the ILC. By the end of Day 7, everyone, including the Shtaff (!), was exhausted, but still eager for the next day.
It’s been an unbelievable week at SHAD Queen’s, and I can’t wait for the weeks to come.
