Hey! My name is Hailey Noseworthy, I'm from Newfoundland & I am just finished grade 10. I am at the University of New Brunswick for July!
Today at our campus, was a relaxed but important day. It was a overcast 24 degrees, perfect weather in my opinion. We started off bright and early at 6:30 am with a fire alarm. Everyone was super happy about that.
After getting ready, we all headed down to dining hall, where I had a breakfast of egg waffles and hashbrowns!
Next, we went to the Blue Lounge, at the student union building on campus (SUB) and had a lecture about Human Rights. At the end, we did an exercise where each table made a promise to each other about something we want to do here at SHAD to make everyone feel included. My table, which was Aiden, Cohen, Ellen & I, decided to have meaningful conversations with 5 different people every day.
After the lecture, we headed back to dining hall, where I had a sub & fries to eat. Along with some cookie dough ice cream!!! Next, we headed to the auditorium for lecture where we learned what our theme was for the month. Which is top secret and I will explain more tomorrow to you folks. Sworn secrecy!!!
After learning our theme for our EP projects, we were given the task to find a specific problem we were passionate about within that theme. After researching and then making a poster on it, I was off to SHAD time!!
Today on our break, Cohen, Ivan, Brandon, Ellen, Trista, Brad and possibly a few more, explored the SUB a bit more and then headed back to res lounges to hang out with each other. Next, we headed to supper where I had mac and cheese with apple cobbler for dessert! We also celebrated a fellow SHAD's birthday by giving them cake and singing happy birthday! Happy birthday shoutout to a fellow, Hrirthik!
After dining hall, we went and relaxed and practiced our pitches for our problem in the forestry computer lab.
Following that, we went back to the lecture where all 80 of us pitched these ideas to our fellow SHADs. We then based our ballots off of these ideas, to create our EP groups.
We ended the night off with a bunch of us in the lounge talking about our hometowns and I talked in a strong Newfie accent for most of it lol.
Today was great and I can't wait for another SHAD adventure!!
