Although it’s been three weeks of SHAD so far, it feels like we got here just yesterday, but have known each other for months. The past few days were a whirlwind, as Waterloo SHADs prepared for and had a successful Design Project Conference. Thankfully, today we were given a chance to sleep in and have a late breakfast.
After a delightful meal, SHADs had the opportunity to work on posters for our workshops such as Anatomy and 3D Printing, brainstorm for our community projects, and plan for the Coffeehouse later in the evening.
Today, we also got the chance to visit uptown Waterloo, home to the renowned Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. For me, this was the highlight of the visit as some of us got the chance to go inside and see the ultramodern facilities and classrooms. Also, many of us visited the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery, which housed several abstract and interesting ceramic and glass art pieces.
The evening was taken up by our very own Coffee House with SHADs enjoying “Casino Night”. The event took lots of hard work on behalf of many SHADs and staff, and it certainly paid off. The night was fantastic and featured many performances from SHADs such as a Piano Medley and Gymnastics.
Day 21 was without a doubt another exciting and packed day, and one that we will remember for years to come.
