Nothing beats the adrenaline that comes with waking up at 8:20 and knowing that the cafeteria stops serving breakfast at 8:30 sharp. This is a common pattern among SHAD Queen's, and you are not alone if you run into the cafeteria at 8:29 looking for food, but this sleepiness is nothing a cup of coffee and some fresh breakfast can’t fix.
After breakfast, it was lecture time. Our first lecture was on how to present a perfect pitch, which will be very important to the success of our SHAD projects. Then we had a very engaging lecture on statistics, and how statistics can even apply to bananas.
After lunch we split into our second day of workshops. I got to visit North America’s top anatomical museum, and learned more specifically about the brain, all while holding real human remains. Other amazing workshops included writing music, business consulting and astronomy.
After an intense session of ultimate Frisbee in the blazing sun we all enjoyed a delicious meal. Dinner fuelled us through two productive hours of project time. House meetings, snack and optional committee meetings and we can call the day a wrap. All before the 11 o’clock curfew.
