Our day started at SHAD Memorial unlike any of the days before, with unprepared SHADs scrambling to reach the designated area for our fire drill. After, it was time for an enticing breakfast. After our appetites had been satisfied, we continued with our ritual of two morning lectures. The first lecture we attended consisted of an in-depth look at graduate studies and for our second lecture we had the pleasure of hosting former Newfoundland premier Danny Williams. His captivating voice revealed the links of hockey to the art of entrepreneurship and business and his personal insight gave us a direct window into a political landscape unfamiliar to many young people.
In addition, SHAD president Tim Jackson stopped by Memorial campus to view our program and talk to the SHADs about their experiences. We rounded out our schedule with selected seminars such as robotics and PCB assembly where the CBC recorded footage for an upcoming story. Finally, we finished with an intense game of basketball. After dinner, we worked on our house projects. All in all, a wonderfully unique day at SHAD Memorial.
