Of all the days I have had at SHAD over the past two weeks, today was by far the most exciting for me. The day started like any normal day with the SHADs meeting up and heading to breakfast. We sat down, ate our food, went back to the ravine room and that is when all the action started. As we were receiving our daily dose of SHAD News, one of the spokespeople broke into song. Today, I received my news about the Mayor’s road project in Bellville as a parody to the intro of The Fresh Prince of Bel-air.
After this interesting news cast, we headed outside to meet with the two speakers of the day, John Machlachlan and Jay Brodeur, both staff here at McMaster. We were split to into 12 groups and sent all around campus to locate and document information about the various bike racks at McMaster. This was very exciting as we haven’t really had the opportunity to explore the campus and this was a great chance to take a look around. We then proceeded to a workshop where I had my first experience with coding. We made LEDs light up and music play out buzzers. Simple, I know, but very exciting for a beginner like myself.
We then had our rec-time. Today, I had a nice dose of ultimate frisbee. Very intense game but very fun. After this hunger inducing action, we had dinner and then committee time. We were finalizing the clothing, I’m very excited for the designs this year. We then got some time to work on our projects, had some snack and here I am typing this right now.
