Students can sign-up to be notified when applications for SHAD 2020 are open.
SHAD amplifies the great work being achieved within the school system by providing a unique program focused on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) disciplines, with the goal of helping exceptional students envision their extraordinary potential as tomorrow's leaders and Change Makers. SHAD offers a one-month in-residence program each July across our Canadian host university campuses for 950 students (approximately 56 students per campus) who are in Grades 10, 11, and 12* (Quebec Secondaire IV, V or CEGEP I) or the international equivalent.
* SHAD 2019 is the last program year that grade 12 students can apply.

Students become aware of SHAD through our extensive community of supporters including more than 17,000 alumni who have participated in programs staged since SHAD’s inception in 1980. But the program relies heavily on educators, who are connected with students throughout the school year, to help identify diamonds in the rough students and ensure they are aware of the opportunity to apply to SHAD.
SHAD seeks out students, who demonstrate intellectual curiosity, creativity and a desire to leave an impact on their communities. We recognize that intellectual curiosity goes beyond grades and leadership comes in many forms. SHAD is not just for the most vocal student leaders or those with the highest average; we’re looking for Change Makers – youth who want to embrace their Uncommon Purpose and bring about real, positive change.
There is no limit on the number of students selected from a particular school, and SHAD welcomes educators' support in identifying and encouraging application by suitable candidates. Here are some support tools for educators:
