Shad Valley Entrepreneurship Cup Overview
|
Innovative Creations
Originally conceived as a way to enhance the entrepreneurship experience at Shad Valley, the Shad Valley Entrepreneurship Cup has evolved into something more. It has become a hallmark competition for showcasing the innovative spirit, the youthful exuberance and the leadership skills of our newest Shad Valley alumni.
At Shad Valley, young people from across Canada and beyond develop leadership and learning skills in an environment that fosters entrepreneurship, science and innovation. The Shad Valley Entrepreneurship Cup is an annual competition following the Shad Valley program for which students develop and unveil new products. These products are well positioned to be the next business success stories.
The competition showcases the best in entrepreneurship, science, and technology and demonstrates what teams of senior high school students can create with a little opportunity and a lot of passion.
How Does It Happen?
Throughout July, student teams at the Shad Valley campuses compete in the development of a product based around a common theme. The students conduct market surveys, create business plans to prove product viability, and produce an actual prototype. Judges pick the winner at each campus before the end of the program.
During the month of August, the winning teams continue to develop their projects for the national competition. The members of the teams work remotely from across the country to refine their business plans and prototypes and build a supporting website and marketing materials. Panels of experts judge the final submissions, and awards are announced in October. Medals and ribbons are then given to winning team members.
